To All Those Who Were Lost...

Thu, Sep 11, 2003; by Rebecca. Never Forget... Always Remember.... God Bless America!

The following is a poem I wrote the day after the attacks....I only wish it could truly express the pain and sorrow I felt on that day. However, still stunned by the act, this poem is the simple expression of what I saw on the faces of my friends, family, and teachers. The white ribbons fluttering around school, least we all forget...were a year long reminder of all those lost...This is my tribute to them. A poem called "A Single White Ribbon."

---

A single white ribbon, fell across my shadow's path. I picked it up, and twisted simply around my little finger. A single white rose, fell silently on the grave, a thousands tears fell in its wake. A single white dove, a symbol of peace, flew away from our blue sky, casting a shadow on our nation's fate. A single white ribbon, pinned gently on my shirt. A symbol of peace and unity, a symbol of shared prayers for those lost. A single white rose, laying alone on the grave. The sky fills with silent prayers as the angels begin to cry above.
